Your house-hunting experience should be positive and rewarding. A little bit of planning goes a long way to making the process less stressful. Just remember these sensible tips as you begin your search.
Location Counts. Yes, it’s still true that the most important factor in real estate is location, location, location. Even the most picture-perfect home can be a mistake if it’s in a poor location. A poorly located home can be a bad choice if you anticipate reselling the home within a few years. Be sure to educate yourself about possible changes that may affect the location in the future.
Make a List of the features you want. Sit down and compile a list of your likes and dislikes. Zero in on the features you must have, would like to have, definitely don’t want and would prefer not to have. Your goal should be to find the right the home to meet today’s and tomorrow’s needs. A good beginning point is to think about what you like and don’t like about your current home.

If you find a home that you love and decide to “sleep on it,” don’t be surprised if someone else buys it before you make an offer. This doesn’t mean that you should make hasty decisions. However, don’t procrastinate and risk losing the home you love.
Relax. Granted, buying a home is a major life-changing event. But it’s not worth making yourself crazy or overly-stressed. Make time at the end of your house-hunting day to unwind, calm your thoughts and emotions and keep the whole experience in perspective.
